11th International Self-Transcendence 12 Hour Swim 2009

1 Mar 2009 – Zurich

44 swimmers from Switzerland, Austria, Germany, England, Scotland and Croatia took part in the event which featured six teams and 21 solo swimmers.

Congratulations to Tasha Morey from Ringwood who was the fastest solo swimmer, placing first amongst women with 41.1km and in her 16-39 age group. Czech Lenka Sterbova’s 2004 record stands at 43.0 km. Winner amongst the solo swimmers in the men’s category was Mauro Giaconia from Italy  with 39.2km.

The Masters category was won by Andrea Gellan from Scotland with excellent 34.6k, and Robert Michel from Germany with 32.5k. A great inspiration was the performance of Arthur Puckrin from Middlesbrough who at 71 years young reached 25.1k!

The fastest team was WSV/SC St. Gallen (Switzerland) whose six swimmers covered 46.4k.
