2023 Awards & End Of Season Dinner

Sunday 19th November saw the 2023 Awards Presentations combined with the end of season dinner at the lovely Quay Hotel on Poole Quay.

A fabulous 3 course meal was enjoyed by all ,which included a superb selection of starters, a fantastic carvery as the main, and a delight selection of deserts to finish off.

It was lovely to see so many people turn up and and great that they all appeared to enjoy the event, in the lovely settings, with lovely views across Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island.

As with each season the EDOWSC committee like to reward members for various achievements or effort they have put in throughout the year.

As our Chairman Marc Newman stated in his speech,  this club is run entirely by volunteers and all those volunteers are just purely members of the club who step up to help the club function on a weekly basis, with task ranging from Registration of Weekly Swims to taking  Taster Sessions, providing Safety Cover, Opening up and locking up the unit after swims each Tuesday. And then on top of that we have a few members who also make up the committee to ensure the overall running of the club continues behind the scenes, with the Seahorse Swim, Fun relays, 5Km Swims, Social Events.

So a big congratulations to all those who go above and beyond to help this club continue functioning to allow all our members to enjoy swimming in a safe and orderly fashion. You all rock!!

We are always looking for members to step up and help out in way way they can, with whatever skills you can bring to the table i.e. IT, Website, Social  Media, Meeting Updates, Communications or even just volunteering on Tues to do the registration cover. The more people we can get to share the work load the less of  challenge it is for the few that currently do it all.

  • So if you would like to help by volunteering just a little bit, then please make yourself known to us so we can get you involved.

Special thanks were given to the following people:

  • Becca Goodson received a special thanks and a lovely bouquet of flowers to for all the work that she has done over the last couple of years as Membership Officer dealing with all Tuesday night registration sheets, new members and taster sessions – a huge thanks to her.
  • Jen Richardson also received a special thanks and a lovely bouquet of flowers for all her work with keeping the club accounts solvent as treasure of the club to allow the club to continue as is.
  • Thanks were also offered to the members of RLSS Poole Lifeguard who turn out each Tues evening to provide the safety cover, so that you can all enjoy your swims safely. David Perch, Scarlett-Lilly Williams, Lara Moore, Sam and Tim Travers and Emma Marjason were all invited along to the dinner as guest of the club, by way of a thank you for all their time and efforts this season.
