Saturday 28 March 2009 -University of Bath 50m pool
Under ASA Laws and ASA Technical Rules.
A 5Km pool swim is now part of the national programme and this will be the sixth time that the South West Region / Western Counties have held such an event. This year again we are also giving competitors the opportunity to swim the shorter 3Km distance. The aim is to give pool swimmers the opportunity to swim these distances under race conditions and to encourage them to consider entering Open Water events when the warmer summer
weather arrives.
To enter swimmers must be registered with the ASA and be members of a club affiliated to ASA SW Region. The entry fee is £6.50.
5Km warm-up will be at 10.00am. Start 5Km at 10.30am.
3Km warm-up approx 1.30pm. Start 3Km approx 2.00pm.
Minimum age is 12 years old on 31 December 2009.
Please note that swimmers can enter either the 5Km or the 3Km, not both events.
There will be a 60-minute time limit for the 3Km event and a 90-minute time limit for the 5Km event. If necessary there will be two heats of 5Km and 3 heats of 3Km. The events will be mixed. In the event that more than 16 entries are received for each event the organisers reserve the right to swim two to a lane. Competitors will be informed before the event if this is to happen.
The closing date for entries is 7 March 2009
Completed entries, accompanied by a Stamped Self-Addressed Envelope and the entry fee of £6.50, must be returned to: Brian Bewley, Kewstoke House, 5, Kewstoke Road, Kewstoke, Weston-Super-Mare BS22 9YD
