On Saturday 28 January 2017, South London Swimming Club plays host to the 7th SLSC UK Cold Water Swimming Championships at the spiritual home of cold water swimming, Tooting Bec Lido.
Bigger and better than ever, the 2017 Championships will be a festival of cold water swimming. As well as the individual freestyle dash, ice fly and traditional head-up breaststroke races, why not grab your mates and enter the team relays? All in water as low as 1°C. Not quite up to a full race? Steel your nerves and join the mass jump-in in aid of Crisis, the charity to end homelessness.
Once you’ve braved the chilly depths of the largest unheated freshwater pool in the UK, thaw out in the hot tubs and Finnish sauna. Fabulous prizes will be awarded for the best hat. And once you’ve finished swimming, grab a hot toddy at the Budgie Smuggler’s Arms, check out the host of food stalls and exhibitor stands and marvel at the cornucopia of poolside and aquatic attractions.
