Short swims at several iconic beaches along the Jurassic Coast. Meet at Durdle Door Car Park at 8am on 23 August 2015.
We will be starting the Swimtrek from Durdle Door, with the opportunity for those swimmers that are confident to swim through the door to Lulworth Cove, roughly 2km. Our friends at RLSS will provide a support boat to escort any swimmers wishing to swim from Durdle Door to Lulworth Cove.
Otherwise, swim through the Door to Man o War bay and back again, then head by car or across the headland to swim at Lulworth.
You will need to wear a swim visibility float (swim secure tow float – see chillswim video below) for the Durdle Door to Lulworth swim, and to buddy up.
If you need to purchase a tow float visit www.swimsecure.co.uk/#intro
From Lulworth, we will head to Tyneham and Worbarrow Bay. Please bring a picnic for lunch at Tyneham.
Travel back by car to Worth Matravers to walk to Winspit for swimming and jumping into the crystal waters of the Purbecks.
It will then be roughly time for a social drink at the historic Square and Compass pub, before heading home.
Whilst there are fewer swims, there will be more time for swimming …. more relaxed and sociable!
As with the whole SwimTrek individuals pick which bits of the swim they wish to participate in – nothing is forced and you are encouraged to swim within your abilities. Some will enjoy a swim within Durdle Door and a few will wish to extend the swim.
If you haven’t joined in the SwimTrek in previous years, have a chat with your fellow swimmers at Shore Road to see how much pleasure it has given to swimmers of all abilities.
Ali Bubynkiewicz needs to know numbers of people interested in joining the SwimTrek and also those who wish to do the Door to Cove swim and whether you can offer or need to car share, so please register your interest now by emailing alibud69@gmail.com.
