Entries full for British Gas Great North Swim

In its third year, the event has been more popular than ever with places filling in record time, proving that outdoor swimming is the latest craze. Despite the big freeze gripping the nation, prospective swimmers were undeterred, with entries peaking in the first week in January and many making the challenge of Great Swim their New Year’s resolution for 2010.

Colin Hill, Project Manager of Great Swim said: “It’s truly amazing to see that over 7000 people are willing to challenge themselves to a one mile open water swim in the Lake District, making this the UK’s biggest outdoor swim event ever. I hope that those who haven’t been able to enter this year will be able to either swim for a charity or enter one of our other fabulous swim events.”

There are a limited number of charity places still available. Visit www.greatswim.org for more information.
