Well engineer Ted Ciamillo has taken things one step further by inventing the Lunocet, a 1m wide, semi-flexible monofin made of carbon fibre and fiberglass which can propel swimmers up to 13 km or 8 miles per hour while enabling them to sustain a steady pace because it transfers 80% of their energy into thrust.
