Lynne Ramsay’s ‘Swimmer’ starring Tom Litten has been awarded the Best Short Film BAFTA. The ceremony took place on Sunday 10 February 2013 at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, London.
Producers Diarmid Scrimshaw and Peter Carlton were present to accept the award. The ceremony can be seen on the BBC’s iPlayer service.
Swimmer is a poetic journey through the waterways and coastline of the British Isles, following a lone swimmer through lakes, rivers and coves. The journey is framed by a soundtrack of seminal British music, combined with a sound tapestry of hydrophonic recordings and snippets of bankside conversations. The film aims to give a real feel for the diversity of landscape and people of Britain.
Swimmer was partly shot in Dorset, produced by Warp Films and originally commissioned as part of the Olympic festival.
